koonacs - Cherax preisii vs C glaber solved

Ok, finally I think I have enough confirmation to say which is which. I checked at the Western Australian Museum, they had a specimen labelled Preisii, I have a poster that labels the same crayfish as cherax preisii and finally, under koonac in a new book on Australian crustacea preisii is shown the same way. Until I see C glaber labelled though I cant be certain, but so far it looks like koonacs with the large knob inside their "finger" as with brutus are Cherax preisii, the commonly shown pic on the net of preissii is actually Cherax Glaber.
i'll collect some pics etc later on.

Koonacs for sale?

Ryan, I think there should be a way to export Koonacs etc. We are trying to get the licenses organised. There may be other people with licenses I will try to find out. I have seen Koonacs for sale on the web here and there, perhaps we can post links here when we find them?

New Koonac Species

Well, sorry to not reply Ryan, thanks for you comment mate.I have been busy down south collecting crayfish if that is an excuse. This trip I fished a different area and seem to have at least one of a different koonac species. Pictures on the net identify it as cherax preissi, whilst the species I have already is by elimination cherax glaber. However, the distribution of the specimens conflicts with some old fisheries data. It looks like I may have to go offline for information ....Shocking tho that seems to me.
Tomorrow I will visit the Perth museum and solve the identity problem once and for all, then I will post some pics. I also got some interesting marron (from farms under license of course) These ones I am told are stock from different river systems and they appear to have different claws and some green tints in the joints. I also caught a pair of marron with extremely large tails in an extremely unlikely place whilst fishing for yabbies. Sadly I had to release them straight away because of our fishieries laws with marron here and I was so worried about having marron instead of yabbies that I didn't pause long enough to take a photo. Probably they had both just lost claws recently and so they looked tail heavy but I will be back in that spot come marron season as the shape of them and the place they are in intrigues me.

Koonacs, Marron and Blue Marron coming right up

Off we go to catch more crayfish... Three days down south. Hopefully get a few decent sized koonacs and buy some more blue and black marron. Will try some areas on the way for different Koonacs (glaber or preisii? no one knows) .Blue crayfish look best in aquariums so I'm going to try to select some decent blue koonacs and marron from the farms as well. May as well use their stocks for selective breeding as well.
The kids should enjoy it, kangaroos on the lawn at the place we stay, catching marron all night.

Doesn't anyone want a gmail invitation?

Where are all the screaming hordes demanding free Gmails? I've been offering them to everyone and no one wants them, now I have 50 more. All ya gotta do is leave your email address and I'll send you a gmail invite pronto. The gmail account itself is pretty cool, but I guess they must be releasing so many noone needs one now. Ah well, guess I can use them myself, another 50 gig storage for free lol.

Why has this got zero bids? I kinda like it. I did contact these guys and ask for detailed specs but didn't get anything more detailed than what is on ebay.

Ahh well.
